Editing the questions a check asks

Change the questions before a check runs, get suggested questions, keep several named question sets per brand, or edit later from the Prompt set dialog. Every edit saves a new version, and earlier checks keep the version they ran.

Before you run

On the new check form, the preview lists every question the check will ask. Choose Edit questions to change them, one box per question:

  • type in any box to change that question;
  • the bin icon beside a question deletes it;
  • Add your own question, above the list, adds an empty box, up to 12 questions in all (to add your own when all 12 are there, delete one first);
  • Clear all and write my own empties the list so you can write all 12 yourself;
  • a check needs at least 3 questions, each up to 300 characters, and the counter under the list tells you when one is too long or there are too few.

Every question is asked live of every assistant, which is why a check stops at 12.

Undo my changes puts back the questions you started from: the saved set when the brand has one, otherwise the questions we drafted.

Suggested questions

Choose Suggest questions above the list. Type a topic or keyword if you like (for example "baggage fees" or "pet hair"), and tick Read our homepage for context if you filled in your website. Suggest returns about two dozen questions a buyer might ask an AI assistant, grouped by buyer stage: questions that never name you, comparisons with rivals, reputation and complaints, trust and value, and the decision to buy. Tick the ones you want and choose Add to my questions; they join your list up to the limit of 12, and you can edit them like any other.

Suggestions are free and capped at 20 a day per account. They are ideas, not data: PollyX does not claim how often anyone asks them.

Questions as a particular buyer

The assistants often recommend different brands to different people. Write a question the way one kind of buyer would ask it, saying who they are at the start: "I'm a student on a tight budget, which airline should I fly from Dublin to London?" or "As a business traveller, which airline...". The answers then show whether AI recommends you to that buyer. A few of the suggested questions are written this way too.

It costs nothing extra, because a check always asks 12 questions: a buyer question takes one of the 12 places. The assistants only know what the question says about the buyer. Their apps also use a person's past chats and settings, which no check can copy.

Saved question sets

The first check on a brand in a market saves its questions as that brand's question set (v1). Every later check on the same brand and market asks the same questions word for word, so a change in the score is a change in the answers, never in the questions.

When a saved set exists, the form shows "saved set v2" (for example). Edit it and it says "will save as v3": running the check saves your edited list as the new version and asks exactly that list. Earlier checks keep the version they ran.

Several question sets for one brand

A brand can have more than one set in the same market, for example Main questions and "Price questions". On the form, the Question set list shows your sets for the brand and market you typed; choose New question set and give it a name to start one (its list starts empty: add your own questions or use Suggest questions, which uses the set's name as the topic when the topic box is empty).

Each set is measured on its own: its own versions, its own trend line, its own "what changed since your last check" and its own tracking schedule, so different topics never mix in one line. A check shows which set it ran on the Question set button, and the brand's brand hub has a switch between its sets.

After a check

On a completed check, the Prompt set v[number] button opens the saved questions for that brand, in the same list: edit, delete or add questions (up to 12), then choose Save prompt set: future checks, including tracked ones, ask the new version.

Note: Keep the brand's name out of one or two questions. A question that names you guarantees a mention, so only the unprompted questions show whether assistants think of you on their own.
