What it shows
Under What reached your website on a check, Visitors from AI lists each AI assistant with the visits it sent to your website in the period of your export, next to what it said about you in that check: how many of its answers named you, and how many put you first. Assistants the check asked are listed even when they sent nobody, because an assistant that names you in most answers but sends no visitors is worth knowing about.
Export it from Google Analytics 4
- 1Open Reports > Acquisition > Traffic acquisition.
- 2Set the first column of the table to Session source / medium.
- 3Choose the dates at the top right. A full month is the easiest to compare later.
- 4Click Share this report > Download file > Download CSV.
- 5On your check, under What reached your website, choose Add a Google Analytics export and pick the file.
You do not connect your Google account: PollyX only reads the file you choose.
Other analytics tools
Any CSV with a source or referrer column (source / medium, referrer or utm_source) and a sessions, users or views column works, separated by commas, semicolons or tabs: an older Universal Analytics export, a Looker Studio table, Matomo, Plausible, or a sheet you made yourself.
The assistants recognised are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Mistral, DeepSeek, Kimi, Meta AI, Qwen, Poe, You.com and Phind, by their own web address or the utm_source they add to links.
What is kept
The file is read once and not stored. PollyX keeps the visits each assistant sent, its key events and revenue when the export has those columns, the dates and the file name. It is saved with your account under the brand, so every check on that brand shows it. Add a newer export keeps the earlier ones below it, so a month on month change shows, and Remove deletes one for good.
What it cannot count
- Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode. Visitors who click from them arrive as ordinary Google search traffic (google / organic), so no analytics tool can separate them.
- Visits without a referrer. Some apps and browsers hide where a visitor came from, and those visits show as direct traffic.
- Visitors your analytics does not see, for example people who decline analytics cookies.
Reading it
An assistant that names you in most of its answers but sends no visitors is recommending you without linking to you, or linking to someone else's page about you. The pages behind its answers are under What the assistants read, on the same check.
